Currency
The official national currency in Laos is the Lao kip (K). The denotations of notes are 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 kip. Thai Baht and US dollars are accepted in Laos. Major transactions for small purchases are carries out in Kips, but the US dollar and Thai Baht are favored in larger transactions.

The majority of internet cafes offer international calling service through Skype. You can also make international calls in local Telecom Office, but with a high prices. If you plan to use your own phone in Laos, it is suggested to buy a local SIM card which will cost 20,000–30,000K with an initial amount of credit to use.

Internet is available at most hotels and public internet cafes are easily to be found in the main cities. Prices range between 6000 and 15,000K per hour. Besides, there are numerous cafes and hotels in Vientiane and Luang Prabang offer free Wi-Fi.
Health
