Get to Vietnam

Generally, there are three ways to enter Vietnam: by airby roadway and by water.

1. By Air

Airway, as the best way to get to Vietnam, is easy and time-saving. There are three main airports in Vietnam located in the three main cities: Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City, which all manage many international flights.

The Airport in Hanoi is called Noi Bai International Airport, located 45 km from the center of Hanoi. It is the largest airport in Northern Vietnam with a maximum capacity of 10 million passengers after the new runways have been constructed.

Danang International Airport is located just a few kilometers from the city center Danang. It manages domestic flights from all over Vietnam and international from Hong KongBangkokVientianePhnom Penh and Taipei. If you plan to visit Hoi An Ancient town in the center of Vietnam, you will probably take flights to Danang International Airport.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is located 7 km from Ho Chi Minh City, constructed by French Colonial Government in the 1930s. As the gateway to Southern Vietnam, it is one of the busiest airbases in the world with a capacity of 8 to 10 million international passengers per year.

It seems there are only two options to get to Vietnam by roadway: by bus or by train. It is possible to get to Vietnam by bus from Cambodia, Laos and China to cross the borders. By bus is relatively cheaper but it may make you feel tired and exhausted during the long and bumpy distance. And the choices are limited.

Another option is by train. It is only available for traveler from China. The only one railway connects Vietnam is from Beijing to Hanoi via Nanning and Lang Son Province, which departs every Thursday and Sunday.
