Welcome to Siem Reap, the gateway to the enigmatic jungle temples of Angkor. Upon arrival, a friendly local guide will greet you at the airport and take you to your hotel for check-in. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the quaint yet bustling town of Siem Reap, a hidden gem of word-class wining and dining, kind locals, and charming markets.
After breakfast at your hotel, your awe-inspiring tour of Angkor begins. Entering through the grand South Gate, you’ll explore Angkor Thom, the last capital of the once great Khmer Empire, with the 216 enigmatic faces of The Bayon at its centre. Still within the ancient city walls, you’ll marvel at the view from the summit of Baphuon, the enormous temple mountain, affording unspoiled views over the surrounding ruins. You’ll round off the morning poring over the intricate bas-relief of the Elephant Terrace and Terrace of the Leper King, before having lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, you’ll venture deeper into the jungle to the crumbling ruins of Ta Prohm. Here you’ll witness the monstrous jungle vines and sprawling tree roots that seem intent on claiming the ruins as their own. We cap off our day of adventuring with a welcome dinner and unique performance at Phare Cambodian Circus, a non-profit show enriching the lives of disadvantaged youth in the Siem Reap area.
After breakfast, you will witness the spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site, Angkor Wat, in all its glory. This incredible twelfth century monument stands testament to the dedication and skill of the ancient Khmer people and is truly a wonder of the world.
After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll savour the remote peace of Banteay Srei, or the ‘Citadel of Beauty,’ some 20 km away. This less-frequented woodland temple is beautifully preserved and is incomparable with any other in Angkor. En route to your hotel, we stop at a rural Khmer village to give you insight into the everyday lives of the friendly local people. The evening is yours to explore Siem Reap some more.
Welcome to Siem Reap, home of the mysterious Angkor temples! Your journey will begin in the late morning, where you will be transferred to the pier for your cruise. Settle into your cabin and prepare for a breathtaking 5 day adventure to Cambodia's industrious Capital City.
Enjoy a welcome drink and lunch after check-in. The rest of today is free for you to relax on deck as we continue our cruise to Kampong Chhnang, one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonle Sap River. Kampong Chhnang is also known for its market and pottery-making villages nearby which produce enough pottery to supply the entire country. To end our first day, you will return to the cruise for a welcome dinner.
After a lovely breakfast, you will begin your day by enjoying an invigorating Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck. You are then free to relax on board and admire the spectacular marshlands as we cruise through the Tonle Sap Lake. Following lunch, you will take a bus tour to visit the nearby Aundaung Russey village where you will get to see the wonderful Khmer style pottery. Next, take a local motorboat excursion to see the wetlands, floating villages and fish farms. Return to the ship to enjoy a nice dinner. The rest of the day is free for you to relax on board.
This morning, you will take a land trip to the ancient hilltop pagoda of Wat Hanchey, built in the 8th century. Enjoy a breathtaking view from the top of the hill. After returning to the boat, you will have the chance to witness a blessing ceremony performed by the local monks. We will then continue your cruise toward Kampong Cham, where you will visit Wat Nokor, a Theravada Buddhist pagoda built within the ruins of an ancient temple. Last, we will visit a local orphanage before returning to the ship for your on-board dinner.
After breakfast, we will start your Phnom Penh City tour by visiting the dazzling Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant, before continuing on to visit the Genocide Museum and the Killing Field in town. In the evening, we will return to your cruise for a traditional Apsara dance show while you enjoy your dinner and cocktail on board.
After a final breakfast on board, you will be dropped off at the pier to continue your onward journey.
