Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)! Your journey will begin in the afternoon where you will board your Toum Tiou Mekong River Cruise. Settle into your cabin and prepare for a breathtaking 8 day adventure to Siem Reap, home of the mysterious Angkor temples. After your check-in and security briefing, we will begin by making our way towards My Tho, a market town known for its many orchards, rice plantations and the most extensive cultivation of rice, coconuts, bananas, mangoes, longans, and citrus fruits of Vietnam.Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner in the evening.
Enjoy a welcome breakfast on board as your cruise departs. Relax on deck and admire the scenery as we cruise through the marvelous canal of Cho Gao on our way to My Tho. Upon arrival, your cruise will drop its anchor near Thoi Son Island, where you will be transferred to the mainland by a local boat where you will then travel to Vinh Trang Pagoda by car. Enjoy a panoramic view of My Tho on the drive as you head to Dong Tam Snake Farm and My Tho Market to discover the local gardens and rice fields.After lunch, you return to the pier and take a local boat to Thoi Son Island where you can explore the daily activities of the people as you enjoy some fresh local fruit.We will then continue to make our way to Cai Be as you enjoy your dinner, followed by free time for the rest of the evening.
In the early morning, you will complete the rest of the journey to Vinh Long as you enjoy a lovely breakfast. Located in the middle of the delta between two arms of the mighty Mekong River, life in this city centers on water, consisting of houses that are hoisted up on stilts that are planted into banks of the river. Upon your arrival, you will take a local boat to visit a brick and pottery factory and the Binh Hoa Phuoc Islet Nursery of Fruit Trees.
After enjoying your lunch on board, we will make our way to Sa Dec, where you will take a short panoramic tour of this peaceful city full of tree-lined streets, fading colonial villas and a myriad of orchards and flower markets. Next, you will take a bus to visit Vuong primary school before continuing on to visit the beautiful Kien An Cung Pagoda. Take a stroll around Sa Dec Market along the River bank, and then visit a nursery of flower and bonsai trees before returning to the boat for the evening.Upon returning to your ship, you will enjoy a nice dinner as your cruise continues towards Chau Doc.
Enjoy breakfast as your cruise heads towards Chau Doc, a remote border town full of many different cultures. The city is known for its vivid and vibrant colors with floating fish farms, colonial buildings, and many markets. Upon arrival, local boats will ferry you to visit a Cham minority village.Take a stroll through Chau Doc market where you will enjoy a glistening view of the rice paddies on the peak of Sam Mountain. You will stop to visit Lady Chua Xu temple and Tay An Pagoda on your way to the Victoria hotel where you will have your lunch.Enjoy the mesmerizing sunset during dinner en route to Phnom Penh. We will arrive at Phnom Penh in the late evening, where you will stay overnight.
After breakfast you will explore Phnom Penh, beginning with a visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which now serves as a testament to the crimes of the Khmer Rouge from 1975-1979.You will then return to the city for a lovely lunch before an extensive half-day sightseeing tour including stops at the Royal Palace and the National Museum.In the evening, we will return to your cruise for a traditional Apsara dance show while you enjoy your dinner on board.
This morning, you will enjoy free time to explore the city on your own.You will then be given lunch on board before continuing on to Kampong Tralach to see its stunning pagoda and outstanding century-old mural paintings. You will also be able to enjoy a nice view of the rice paddies.To end our day, you will return to the cruise for dinner. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax on board.
This morning, we will continue our cruise to Kampong Chhnang, one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonle Sap River. Kampong Chhnang is also known for its market and pottery-making villages nearby which produce enough pottery to supply the entire country.We will then make our way to Chnok Tru as you enjoy your lunch. Upon your arrival, you will take a local boat to visit the largest floating village on the Tonle Sap River.We will then return to your cruise for farewell cocktails and dinner in the afternoon. Enjoy the last evening on board.
After breakfast, you will be picked up by a local speedboat and taken to Phnom Krom pier in Siem Reap to continue your onward journey.
